I have read all the safety evaluations on Amazon from all the numerous security MFG's. Skylink, GE, Bulldog Security and so on. I was impressed that the critiques on this product did not mention anything about poor excellent, poor range and so on. I initially known as the AAS security persons and was impressed that more than the telephone they could answer all my queries. I would like to let you know that the most important programmer/ auto dialer is the similar on all their units from AAS100 to AAS600 systems. The only difference is the quantity of door sensors, motion detectors, sirens etc and so on. They have so a number of extra add on's for their safety system it is unbelievable, such as remote wireless sirens, smoke detectors, gas detectors, water detectors and additional and more. So I ordered a custom unit from them: 1 primary programmer/dialer, 1 remote siren and three motion detectors and two remote crucial pods. I setup the system on my kitchen table in about 1/2 an hour. The siren is loud, due to the fact I purchased the separate wireless siren unit it can be placed anywhere you have an AC outlet. The motion detectors work amazing. Not too sensitive but work at lengthy distances. I place a single on the motion detectors in my den and it looks into my kitchen and will detect you if you walk at the end of the kitchen 40ft away.The key programmer has built in battery backup. I have a 3000 sq ft house and I do not know where to place the 3rd detector, the other two detectors cover my entire first floor. I've only had it for a week but I am impressed. You have the capacity to dial into this system and listen to what is happening, functions with my blackberry cellphone. UPDATE:
The method is superb. No complications. I use VOIP Vonage for my house phone and it works wonderful on out going alerts from the AAS 100 security program, but on incoming calls the Vonage answering service will answer and I cannot dial into the AAS 100. SO....I bought the VOIP Grandstream Handystream 286 adapter from Amazon went to CallCentric and signed up for their VOIP telephone . Its fantastic for a alarm technique mainly because it will dial out and I can now contact in to my alarm. Expense? $1.95 per month. Superb! If any person finds a better VOIP source let me know!
Second update:
Identified out my dog can set off the motion detectors. No difficulty, raised the pointing angle and now my pug does not set off the alarm. My wife and I set it just about every time we go out. Even with the dog at home. Enjoy this system.
Third update Feb 2011:
System nonetheless working terrific. Had to replace the 9V batteries for two of the motion detectors, so I would say they last about 6 months. I replaced the batteries on all the units anyway. Quick to do, and I did not have to reprogram any of them. Amazon has some outstanding deals on 9V Alkaline batteries. I also dropped my VOIP CallCentric and I just use the Vonage VOIP. No desire for two systems, I never had to dial into the safety program, no false alarms!
Had this alarm technique for the final two months. Also, purchased the GSM Cellular Module, given that I don't have a land-line.
After being broken into my prior location, an alarm program was a should have for our new apartment household. Before moving in, I began the installation. At first, I was concerned with the directions which mainly consisted of a photograph instance, but the installation was a breeze. The door alarms are effortless to mount and based on a flawless technology. The motion detectors had been a bit a lot more difficult, but I when I figured out how the jumpers coordinated with the spectrum of detection (which is enclosed in those directions), it was fine.
