Buyer Critiques

Ok, the product is fine as advertised. It is an emergency provide of food for 1 adult for three days (don't forget to have sufficient water). I like to bring Mountain House packs with me when I go motorcycle camping or backpacking. They're light, very easy to pack, and I get pleasure from them. At times they take the role of "just in case" food, and at times they serve as a planned meal. The chili mac with beef is a private favorite, as is the beef stroganoff. I'm not particularly fond of beef stroganoff usually, but there is some thing about a savory meal when camping. Mountain Property meals normally taste superior than many of the freeze-dried alternatives.
So why did I say "nearly great?" Properly, I'd choose it if they sold this kit with the two-serving packets. I'm frequently moto-camping or backpacking with somebody. It's super-convenient to have 1 package for two folks. Less waste. On the plus side, it is not five-serving packages like some other emergency kits. Since it is advertised for a single person, this is expected.
Second, the vegetable packs (which are two-serving packs, even though I'm guessing are intended for a single individual) are a waste for a property emergency kit. Get canned vegetables instead. The vegetable packs are fantastic for backpacking, as they will assist hold your digestive technique pleased. They do not come out pretty as beneficial as canned vegetables, but they are significantly lighter.
If you are debating between this and MREs, there's a couple of issues to take into account:
1) Personally, I feel MREs do not taste as great as Mountain Residence meals
two) MREs do not require a stove and fuel (MRE heating packs)
three) MREs don't require extra water (correct of canned foods, as well)
I do have MREs occasionally for moto-camping, but not for backpacking, as I favor the Mountain Property meals.

Although the food quality is decent - and the packages will need to last for a while, it's a bit deceptive to say that a TOTAL of about 2500 calories is sufficient for a person for three days. Unless you're on a definitely tight diet plan. For a brief term like 72 hours just preserve some canned food about (or some MRE's) and you'd do significantly superior. If you insist on camping (dehydrated) food - merely purchase a few of the true meals from this corporation. At least you'll be eating adequate to preserve the stomach rumbles down.
