I lately purchased two of these motion detector alarms. I had a couple of questions ahead of acquiring that the other reviewers hadn't answered. I'll attempt to give a complete review to support other people who could possibly be thinking about the buy.
The units really feel a bit low-cost, but they do function as described. They have two operating modes: chime and alarm - controlled by a tiny switch on the side of the remote. The chim mode sounds a doorbell like chime (pretty loud) when someone moves across the beam. The alarm has a 45 second exit and 30 second entry time. Many consumers undoubtedly want a shorter entry time, fearing that a burglar would have as well much time to get into the residence.
A couple minor operating points. When the alarm is very first tripped starting the 30 second countdown, it sounds a single loud beep. That can be beneficial or negative. It could alert you, but it also alerts the intruder - perhaps allowing him time to disable the alarm just before it sounds. I want an alarm that goes of instantaneously -- it has a remote so there's no need to have for a delay. I had bought this at WM, will return it unopened.
